Elvis Presley's 75th Birthday

Who "Can't Help Falling in Love" with Elvis Presley, and today being his 75th birthday we celebrate with a few of Mike Hale's works based on this cultural pop icon.

In the 1990's Mike Hale created a one-man show entitled "Heartbreaker". The exhibition featured paintings of Elvis throughout his life, as well as icons that hung upon the wall or rested on tall pedestals. A large heart-shaped, rose-covered portrait of Elvis included a satin kneeling pillow for those who wanted to pay homage to The King of Rock and Roll. Guests were given a small bouquet of live flowers to place upon their favorite piece and were treated to his favorite foods including peanut butter and banana sandwiches!

Gemstone encrusted and gold-leafed, "The King", showcases Elvis as grand as he can be. The painting was based upon an image of Elvis taken a few days before his death and was chosen to travel both nationally and internationally in the show "Elvis + Marilyn 2X Immortal".

My wasn't he a handsome man - that's what my Mum always says - he has a nose like a Greek God.

Hmmm...must be the era. I do think that Elvis was cute waaayy back in the day. But I can never understand how he became an actor!

Glad to see you back!
